St. Ambrose University Biology Department Celebrating 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Darwin

(8/13/08)  Darwin rejected the compatiblity of faith and reason in his writings.

Charles Darwin, the founding father of evolutionary biology, is being honored by Catholic St. Ambrose Univerity’s Biology Department in a two-semester celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth. Darwin effectively separated reason from faith in his writings, rejecting the notion that observations of design of the material world could logically lead to knowledge of God. However, the unity of faith and reason was re-emphasized in Pope Benedict XVI’s speech to Catholic Educators last April. Source: St. Ambrose
