Assumption College Receives $4.2 Mil. Earmarked for Catholic Identity

(9/19/08)  "In support of the school's Catholic intellectual tradition."

Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., received its largest donation ever from Donald and Michelle D’Amour who donated $4.2 million earlier this summer “in support of the school’s Catholic intellectual tradition.”  The grant will be used to help faculty develop new courses for Assumption’s core curriculum based on the Catholic intellectual tradition, launch an endowed Chair in the Catholic intellectual tradition, increase the endowment of the Western Civilization Chair, and initiate a new Catholic speakers program.  President Cesareo said that Donald and Michelle D’Amour “value the fact that Assumption continues to embrace its Catholic identity and seeks to preserve the integrity of its mission."  Source: Le Provocateur
