Christendom College Sends Missionaries to Honduras

(3/31/09) Student: “...you take away just as much as you give on mission trips."

Christendom College in Front Royal, VA, sent a group of students to Honduras on a mission trip from March 6-14. The students gave up their Spring Breaks to undertake the charitable work. The mission focused on supporting the work of “Mission Honduras”, an organization founded by Fr. Emil, a Franciscan priest, with the goal of ending poverty through education. Several schools have been founded in Honduras serving children from the elementary stage to some college-level courses. The Christendom missionaries also assisted in the work of “Mother’s Project,” an auxiliary organization also founded by Fr. Emil which serves mothers and children who have been abandoned or abused. “I firmly believe that you take away just as much as you give on mission trips. We all had a renewed sense of appreciation for all that we are given in our lives,” said Senior Ali Schubert. Tambi Spitz, the associate dean leading the group, said, “I am so truly thankful for this opportunity.
