Magdalen College Appoints New Dean, Unveils New Honors Program

(6/11/09)  ... designed for students who "desire more challenging coursework and readings."

On June 10, Magdalen College in Warner, New Hampshire, announced the appointment of Dr. George Harne as academic dean. Dr. Harne holds a Doctorate and Master of Fine Arts in Musicology from Princeton University, as well as a Masters in Liberal Studies from St. John's College in Annapolis. With his appointment, Dr. Harne announced a new Honors Program at Magdalen College. The Honors Program will be an extension to the college’s Program of Studies designed for students who, according to Dr. Harne, “desire more challenging coursework and readings.” President Jeffrey Karls said, "In a college community setting, our honors students will not focus on just independent growth, but also on raising academic standards and achievements across the board.” Magdalen is recommended in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College for its Catholic identity.
