Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, is significantly enhancing its engineering program for the 2009-2010 academic year. An engineering physics major was first established in 2008. Building off this success, this Catholic institution will begin a partnership this year with the University of North Dakota (UND) to provide students with the opportunity to earn ABET-accredited degrees in chemical, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering while attending Benedictine College. Students will obtain two degrees, a liberal arts degree from Benedictine College, which includes the complete core of liberal arts coursework, and an accredited engineering degree from UND. Students will remain on campus at Benedictine throughout the degree program. Approximately 80 percent of the classes will be taught by Benedictine professors, with the remainder taught through distance learning with professors at UND. Benedictine College is featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College (published by The Cardinal Newman Society) for its strong Catholic identity.  Now a free online resource, the 2^nd edition of The Newman Guide will be published in September 2009.
