On August 24, Thomas Aquinas College (in Santa Paula, Calif.) was spotlighted in a Ventura County Star article, which noted recent honors the Catholic institution has received such as its rank among the nation’s top 100 liberal arts colleges and being named the most religious college in the country. The article explains the success behind Thomas Aquinas College, including the uniqueness of its Great Books Program, the intimate student-tutor relationship, and especially the collective dedication to the college’s firmly held Catholic identity. “The notion of Catholic liberal education here is radically different, because it’s based on the notion that the object of education is to understand the order and meaning of the universe,” Interim President Peter DeLuca said. Thomas Aquinas College is also featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College (published by The Cardinal Newman Society) for its strong Catholic identity. Now a free online resource, the 2nd edition of The Newman Guide will be published in September 2009. Source: Ventura County Star
