(10/15/09) "[W]e as a community owe it to our future generations to learn more about the Catholic faith."
DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, hosted a lecture in September on the importance of Catholic education in modern America. The presentation was given by Dr. John Staud, who is the Director of the Alliance for Catholic Education Program at the University of Notre Dame, and was sponsored by the Salesian team, whose mission is to address the growing need for Catholic education in the contemporary world. Dr. Staud proposed to the DeSales audience ways in which the overall decline of Catholic education in America can be reversed. He noted the “need for Catholic identity among the public” and the importance of “finding and forming strong leaders, in order to rally more Catholics.” Dr. Straud explained that “we as a community owe it to our future generations to learn about the Catholic faith.” DeSales University is recommended by The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, now a free online resource, for its dedication to Catholic identity.
