(10/23/09) Dominican priests from the College will narrate their paths to the priesthood.
On October 26, Providence College in Rhode Island, a Dominican Catholic institution of higher education, will host a special event marking the “Year for Priests,” which was proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI and will continue until June 2010. The Holy Father chose this year to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the death of St. John Vianney, whom the Pope has declared as the Universal Patron of Priests. The Providence event is entitled “Year of the Priest: The Journey to Priesthood Today,” and will feature two Dominican priests from the College describing their experiences and narrating the paths that brought them to the priesthood. The Office of Mission and Ministry is sponsoring the discussion. Providence College is featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, now a free online resource, for its strong Catholic identity. Source: Providence College
