(11/3/09) College choir will join Cistercian monks in performances of Medieval and Renaissance chants
Anna Maria College, a Catholic institution of higher education in Massachusetts, will host an event entitled “The Art of Contemplation,” featuring a month-long monastic art exhibit beginning on November 15. The works on display were created by the Cistercian monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Mass. Monks will be on campus to speak with students about their creations. The exhibit will also contain iconography from the collection of the Museum of Russian Icons. The curator of the museum will also come to campus to discuss the works with students. In connection with “The Art of Contemplation” exhibit, Anna Maria will also put on a chant concert with the St. Joseph’s Abbey Schola. The College’s Bel Canto Choir will join the monks in performances of Medieval and Renaissance chants and motets on November 22. Source: Anna Maria College
