(11/10/09) "what happened to Notre Dame is symptomatic of what's happening in other Catholic colleges"
On November 6 Student Programming at the University of Dallas, a Catholic institution of higher education, is scheduled to host Dr. Charles E. Rice, professor emeritus of the University of Notre Dame Law School, for a talk entitled “Catholic Universities and the Dictatorship of Relativism.” The talk will draw upon ideas presented in Dr. Rice’s most recent book, What Happened to Notre Dame? (which you can order here). Dr. Rice will explain to the U. Dallas students “why what happened to Notre Dame is symptomatic of what’s happening in other Catholic colleges, indeed in colleges with non-Catholic religious affiliations. He shows how the abandonment of principle at the college level spills over to the general culture, with devastating effect, as religious standards get pushed out of the public square. And, finally, he shows why people who have never seen the Golden Dome, never rooted for the Fighting Irish, and never graced a Catholic Church, also have a stake in what happened to Notre Dame.” The University of Dallas is featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, now a free online resource, for its strong Catholic identity.
