Teaching your children and grandchildren about Jesus

My adult son, as a 4-year-old, began reciting the words of consecration along with the priest at Mass. We told him that he should remain quiet, because it was a miracle. During the week, my wife and I had a chance to tell him about the miracle, and all week he talked about the miracle. The next Sunday, he quietly asked if the priest was getting ready for the miracle. We said, “Yes!” His next move was that of a street preacher standing on his soap box (the pew), yelling to everyone behind us, “Watch the miracle!” Well, we needed to talk to him about the appropriate time for his preaching.

Now, The Cardinal Newman Society’s latest e-book, 5 Ways to Help Your Children Love Jesus in the Eucharist, is available for download. “Catholic formation does not happen only in classrooms. It begins in the family—with parents as the primary educators. And then it is reinforced by the example of other parents and teachers.”
