University of Navarra (international)
The University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, was founded in 1952 by St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, founder of the Opus Dei personal prelature of the Catholic Church. The large university offers strong career preparation away from the nonsense of American secular universities.
The university has 12 schools, each with several majors and English-language courses for at least the first year before transitioning to Spanish. Americans receive two years of intensive Spanish-language instruction. The core curriculum requires anthropology and ethics then allows students to choose from theology, history, literature, and more. Theology and philosophy are integrated into the ethics and anthropology courses. All theologians have the mandatum, and most faculty and students are Catholic.
Spiritual life is strong, with more than 20 daily Masses. Each school has a designated chaplain who offers Confessions and spiritual counseling and typically teaches the ethics and anthropology courses. Adoration is available every weekday.
All student residence halls are appropriately single-sex with no opposite-sex visitation to private rooms. Many students, however, live off-campus after their first year.
There are many activities including clubs focusing on charitable works, entrepreneurship, literature, theater, cultural activities, and more. Sport is considered important for the integral formation of students, and there is a wide variety of intramural teams. Pamplona is an exciting city with many opportunities for food and entertainment.
In addition to the opportunity to study abroad and gain proficiency in Spanish, American students will find the University of Navarra a great place to pursue holiness and prepare for a vocation in the workplace.

The University of Navarra is well-attuned to the lay student focused on a career or graduate studies, with opportunities for prayer and formation amid mostly Catholics. All this in the culturally rich Basque area of northern Spain, away from the big cities and close to France and the rest of Europe.
