The Cardinal Newman Society is celebrating 30 years of promoting and defending faithful Catholic education by introducing a fresh new logo and 30th-anniversary mark.
The new logo draws its color inspiration from the vestments and symbols of a Cardinal’s office —red, white, black, and gold—and prominently features the bust of St. John Henry Newman, the great educator-saint who was canonized in 2019. A red bar sits atop the logo and runs the width of the page. Below the logo is The Cardinal Newman Society’s mission statement: “Promoting and defending faithful Catholic education.”
The design is filled with meaning. Red is the color of the Cardinal’s zucchetto and cassock, signifying the blood of Christ whose truth, love, and redemption are the firm foundation of authentic Catholic education. Red also signifies the blood of the Christian martyrs and devotion to teaching and defending the Catholic faith without fear or compromise.
The red bar or the “high bar” represents The Cardinal Newman Society’s commitment to upholding standards of faithful Catholic formation and recognizing the very best of Catholic education in The Newman Guide. The bar extending across the page represents the lifelong continuum of Catholic education from birth to death.
